Description of the role and purpose of the job:

  • Graduate recruitment is a core element of the firm, and the graduate recruitment unit is looking for a dynamic and passionate Senior Manager.  The Senior Manager will oversee the Graduate Recruitment and Bursary Team to ensure that they build and maintain strong relationships with the various Universities and students, to ensure a seamless recruitment process. The Senior Manager will also oversee the KPMG Bursary Management processes. This role requires a combination of recruitment expertise, audit expertise, excellent communication skills and the ability to create and maintain long-lasting connections and relationships. The role is based in Johannesburg and requires daily presence in the office or at the universities.

Key responsibilities:

Strategy

  • Draft appropriate amendments and oversee the implementation of the overall National Graduate Recruitment Strategy for KPMG
  • Draft appropriate amendments and oversee the implementation of the overall Bursary Management Strategy for KPMG
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in recruitment in the Audit industry.
  • Ensure that an effective social media strategy is developed.

Grad Recruitment

  • Oversee the Graduate Recruitment Managers in the development of an annual Graduate recruitment plan
  • Oversee the full Graduate Recruitment Process from student engagement to the actual signing of students to KPMG
  • Manage and measure the recruitment pipeline to ensure that future targets are met and report to Manco regarding any shortfall of candidates, as and when required
  • Ensure the relevant steps and interventions are implemented in order for all Grad targets to be met
  • Seek opportunities to improve and document all Graduate Recruitment procedures and policies

Bursary Management

  • Oversee the Bursary Managers in the development of the annual bursary management plan
  • Oversee the full Bursary management process from applications, renewals, and payments.
  • Seek opportunities to improve and document all Bursary Management procedures and policies

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Developing a good understanding of the network of universities, lecturers, culture and environment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the various Universities and their students to ensure the attraction of top talent.
  • Manage own desk for relationship development, using marketing techniques and networking to attract students and learners and Universities.
  • Seek opportunities to develop strategic partnerships with selected top universities. This may involve the development of KPMG specific projects in partnership with the universities.
  • Attending industry, networking and social events and career fairs to promote the brand.
  • Ensure that an effective social media plan is drafted annually to keep up with current trends

HR Matters

  • Ensure effective management of all Graduate Recruitment and Bursary Management Staff members
  • Ensure that all HR related matters are addressed with the relevant consultations with Business Partners and where necessary effectively and timeously escalated.

Thuthuka

  • Engage with the Thuthuka Team on all matters pertaining to Thuthuka, including the allocation of students to KPMG.
  • Assist in the B-BBEE reporting of data as it relates to Thuthuka.
  • Engage with the relevant Partner and assist this partner in the updating, renewing and signing of the Thuthuka contract.

Operational Matters

  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures prescribed by KPMG.
  • Draft the Graduate Recruitment and Bursary Budget for approval by the relevant line manager before submitting for approval.
  • Manage the Grad Recruitment and Bursary Budget, including approval of all relevant expenditure as it relates to Grad and Bursaries.
  • Oversee the documentation and reporting on the risk and controls relating to Graduate Recruitment and Bursary Management
  • Ensure that all risk matters are timeously reported and escalated to the relevant structures within the firm.

Reporting

  • Report all key Graduate Recruitment and Bursary Management matters to the key Partner responsible for Grad matters
  • As the key liaison with the Audit, Advisory and Tax function, report and present to the Audit, Advisory and Tax Business Units and the relevant HR Partners on Grad Recruitment.  
  • Provide and present on statistics and data analysis of various programmes and the success or improvement points. 
  • Prepare reports for submission to Manco, Exco and Board and its sub-committees

  • From time to time you may be expected to assist in other functions that are not listed above.

Minimum requirements to apply for the role (including qualifications and experience):

  • CA(SA)
  • At least three years in a Manager Role.
  • Strong understanding of the recruitment and bursary management processes and best practices.
  • Proven experience in managing relationships with universities together with graduate recruitment  
  • Proven experience in recruitment and bursary management systems
  • In-depth knowledge of the Finance/Commercial industry (Audit)
  • In-depth understanding of the needs of the various business units in the Firm that recruit graduates for their different areas – within Audit, Advisory and Tax
  • Location – Johannesburg
  • Required to travel across provinces to the various Universities
  • Driver’s licence is required (you will be expected to travel to meet stakeholders/students)
