Role Overview

  • This role sets direction for an operational unit, develops, and takes accountability for a business plan which is aligned to the segment strategy. It integrates delivery and metrics across the people, process, finance, and customer dimensions of the business at a strategic or tactical level. The role delivers on strategic projects as sponsor or owner. This position is responsible for managing a large team through senior managers. It is accountable for thought leadership and most effective operating practice in response to the external environment. The role has a strong focus on cross functional operations and networking across internal and external boundaries, as well as direction setting and achieving operational results through building a strong operational management team, in collaboration with enablement partners. The role requires the ability to operate operationally, tactically, and strategically.

Responsibilities

This role is responsible for delivering a positive experience to Customers by enabling the Intermediary Value Proposition through:

  • Providing input and building the Adviser Experience requirements that are bespoke to the Business Unit as well as adviser enablement capabilities that are shared across the Enterprise.
  • Facilitating and incorporating new innovative digital solutions into the Business Unit, as well as driving efficiencies of the sales and other related processes.
  • Driving the continuous optimisation of adviser solutions which include useability, simplicity, ease of use (UI and UX) and digital adoption.
  • Ensuring an integrated digital Business Unit experience between customer, adviser and Old Mutual.
  • Building and maintaining key Old Mutual Limited stakeholder relationships and ensuring the delivery of key services from relevant business partners.
  • Ensuring Compliance in critical Licence to Operate processes: (i) ensuring that all adviser legislative requirements are in place; (ii) ensuring that all customer legislative requirements are being executed, etc. (iii) ensuring that licence to operate projects are appropriately transitioned and operationalized into business as usual.
  • Provide oversight of the Delivery of the Business Unit Outflow / Retention initiatives as per the agreed management action plan and targets, to reduce outflows and increase Persistency.
  • Delivering appropriate Business Intelligence (BI) applications, infrastructure, tools and best practices that enable insightful analytics relating to sales, production and operationally related metrics which informs strategic and tactical decision-making within the Business Unit.
  • Responsible for the Business Unit Data Management and Stewardship, ensuring that the Business Unit implements the Enterprise Data Strategy and related adherence to Data Policies and Governances.
  • Ensure effective execution of money management strategy through influencing and monitoring.
  • Ensuring that all Remuneration and Commission processes are effective to deliver earnings to advisers, timeously and accurately.
  • Leading the User Acceptance Testing capability across various system deployments (new + enhancements).
  • Building an effective and efficient Business Processes Management Capability in the Business Unit.
  • Ensuring adherence to privacy standards and compliance with the Enterprise Privacy Compliance Framework, as the Business Unit Privacy Champion.
  • Ensuring that Customer Tax, Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA)/Common Reporting Standard (CRS), and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) changes are documented, tracked and delivered within the legislative timelines.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant Commercial degree 
  • 10 years’ business experience in financial services industry
  • At least 5 years at middle/senior management level
  • Demonstrated experience in project and stakeholder management
  • Working knowledge of AGILE delivery mechanisms, and a formal certification in AGILE, Lean Portfolio Management, etc., advantageous
  • Facilitation of decision-making through effective influence across different management levels
