We’re on the lookout for an experienced IT Applications Manager II – GIS Manager to be responsible for the oversight on the delivery of new value add GIS applications solutions and the maintenance and support of established solutions and spatial data within the Sappi Southern Africa Region as well as the analysis, improvement and support of system processes and system requirements and responsible for the Commercial GIS (Sappi Sphere).

As an IT Applications Manager II – GIS Manager, you will be responsible for:  

• Directing the planning and implementation of GIS systems 
• Liaise with Business and IT stakeholders on continuous integration, delivery and monitoring of GIS software solutions to production and testing environments, in response to ever-changing business requirements. Facilitate communication between various internal and external business people from senior managers, business process owners and system users.
• Ensure that new projects and continuous business improvement initiatives are in line with business strategy.
• Leverage the potential use of knowledge and information and the related technologies to provide competitive advantage and growth opportunities for the business.
• Design and oversee process improvement initiatives, taking accountability for delivery in terms of resources, scope and time. 
• Identify and manage any risk introduced by changes. Identify inefficiencies and champion continuous improvement. 
• Establish measurements and targets to improve process effectiveness.
• Enhance the information management capability and maturity across the GIS enterprise. 
• Manage the performance and development of direct reports, oversee performance management for the function, and promote and support career management and development.
• Manage and grow the commercial GIS (Sappi Sphere) by signing up new clients and servicing existing clients.

What are we looking for? 

• Degree or relevant qualification in Geoinformatics, Computer Science or Information Management 
• Minimun10 years related business functional area experience 
• Experience in managing teams and budget processes.
