Key Performance Areas

Product Quality and User Experience

  • Implement regular user testing sessions to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
  • Apply industry-standard QA practices, including automated and manual testing, to ensure product quality.
  • Facilitate workshops with UX designers, developers, and users to align on user experience goals and quality standards.
  • Review of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) results and user feedback reports.
  • Monitor user behaviour analytics data to identify areas for User Experience improvement.

Policy Review and Implementation

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental policy, procedures and processes.
  • Keep up to date with effective policy and practice execution strategies.

Agile and Efficient Delivery

  • Adopt Scrum or Kanban frameworks to promote iterative development, flexibility, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular sprint planning sessions and retrospectives to refine processes and increase efficiency.
  • Monitor of key Agile metrics (e.g. velocity, cycle time, etc.).
  • Approve continuous improvement initiatives for optimising delivery processes.

Digital Research and Product Design

  • Create detailed user personas based on research to guide product design decisions.
  • Utilise tools like Sketch or Figma for rapid prototyping, allowing for quick iteration based on user feedback and research insights.
  • Review user research findings, personas, and journey maps.
  • Participate in product ideation workshops and brainstorming sessions.
  • Approve product design mock-ups and prototypes based on user research insights.

Technology Integration and Adoption

  • Leverage APIs and integration platforms for seamless connectivity between different systems and technologies
  • Ensure that digital products work seamlessly across various devices and platforms.
  • Regularly assess and update the technology stack to incorporate new and efficient technologies that enhance product capabilities.
  • Collaborate with T&D teams to assess technical feasibility of product features and integrations.
  • Review of technology roadmap and potential integration challenges.
  • Lead evaluation and adoption of cutting-edge and data engineering technologies.

Delivery of Digital Products

  • Develop a clear strategy for product releases, including alpha, beta, and full launches, to ensure smooth rollouts.
  • Use analytics and monitoring tools to track product performance, user engagement, and to quickly address any issues post-deployment.
  • Approval of release criteria and go/no-go decisions for product launches.

Project Management and Delivery

  • Oversee end-to-end management of data engineering projects, from inception through to delivery.
  • Implement project management frameworks and tools to enhance project planning, execution and tracking.

Effective Communication

  • Conduct needs assessments to understand the target audience, their preferred communication styles, and information gaps.
  • Develop clear and concise communication materials tailored to different audiences and channels (e.g., email, presentations, videos).
  • Utilise multimedia platforms and interactive tools to enhance engagement and knowledge retention.
  • Organise training sessions and workshops to equip employees with the necessary skills to effectively communicate technical information.

Process Improvements and Innovation

  • Benchmark against industry best practices to identify areas for improvement in BRM processes.
  • Conduct internal audits and process reviews to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for optimisation.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities related to BRM and process improvement methodologies.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to leverage automation and digital tools to streamline processes.

Stakeholder Management

  • Facilitate and manage communication with relevant internal and external stakeholders in relation to investments and proactively and progressively manage the relationships.
  • Communicate with all levels of stakeholder contact.

Reporting

  • Report quarterly on progress with implementation of operational plans.
  • Ensure development of functional reporting systems, project or performance reporting for management.
  • Ensure the development of reports/ policies/ procedures and guide the process through the alignment of these documents to the overall RAF’s Strategy.

People Management

  • Manage staff in the department to ensure that they achieve their objectives in line with the strategic objectives of the RAF.
  • Manage the implementation of people management processes and procedures to control/regulate workplace conflict and/or institute corrective measures and consultation processes to address deviations from standards.
  • Establishing partnerships with technology providers and industry groups to stay ahead of technology trends.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree/ Advanced Diploma in an Information Technology or a Computer Science or Commerce/ Business or Engineering.
  • Postgraduate in Information Technology/ Computer Science/ Business Administration/ Commerce/ Engineering related qualification will be advantageous.
  • Professional certification in Agile Delivery frameworks/ Project Management/ Product Management/ User Experience Design/ Design thinking will be an added advantage.
  • Relevant 6 – 8 years’ experience in IT or Product Design or Agile Delivery or User Experience related environment of which 2 years must be management/ area of expertise/ supervisory level.
  • Experience in managing a delivery team building enterprise-wide solutions through agile delivery models.
