  • To manage, optimise and coordinate IVANHOE’s payroll (for nationals and expatriates), ensuring compliance with laws, policy and tax obligations. The Payroll Manager leads a team of specialists looking after the payroll function in SA, UK, Canada (and to a lesser extend the DRC), manages payroll audits, facilitates optimal system (Sage) implementation, and supervises and coordinates the payroll administration, processing and reporting functions.  The incumbent establishes the labour budget, oversees the termination process and collaborates extensively with HR, Finance and Legal teams to drive optimisation and alignment.

Requirements:

  • BCom Degree 
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience, 5 of which must be in a middle management role.
  • Experience with managing multinational payroll in the mining industry
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
  • Ability to handle pressure, interact with Executives and negotiate with Unions
  • Experience in implementing and managing processes,

  • Experience with SA Employment Law

Specific knowledge required: 

  • Proficient with payroll software – Sage
  • Financial /payroll skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced Excel
  • Data analytical skills 

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to: 

  • Process: to manage Ivanhoe’s Payroll function 
  • Enable Payroll Strategy implementation 
  • Drive the accuracy and integrity of the Ivanhoe Payroll process 
  • Lead and manage Payroll reporting 
  • Function as a Payroll subject matter expert
