Purpose

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with the Project Managers and Engineers within the Coastal Profit Centre in all aspects of planning and costing of projects, to ensure the successful measurements and tracking of projects. You will provide input and develop project schedules which is supported with progress measuring systems to track and assist Project Managers with developing and submitting project reports.

Requirements

  • Provide support and inform the Project Managers (PMs) in respect of progress measurement on the project, using a progress measuring system. 
  • Prepare, issue, and maintain the master schedule of multiple projects / contracts. 
  • Review the bid milestones and overall completion timetable in conjunction with the project scope at award and identify any anomalies or inconsistencies. 
  • In collaboration with the project team and all other participants, develop the work breakdown structure (WBS) and progress trackers. 
  • In consultation with the project team, identify key critical constraints and interfaces. 
  • Establish key milestone dates in agreement with the PM and contract dates, ensuring the schedule is set up to deliver a cashflow positive project.  
  • Establish productivity norms, time standards and progress measurement criteria for all disciplines in liaison with project controls. 
  • Development of a basis of schedule (BoS) and / or schedule management plan for approval by the PM. 
  • Set up the interface between the schedule and the applied company / project system (if required). 
  • Analyse schedule / Identify the critical path and near critical paths in the project implementation schedule, report slippages and gains against the baseline schedule. 
  • Monitor, control and report the status of free and total float in the schedule. 
  • Evaluate and integrate contractor’s and supplier’s schedules and report findings to the PM and project engineer. 
  • Integrate contractors actual progress into overall schedule. 
  • Verify contractor’s actual progress. 
  • Provide input and review proposed change management time implications and document the result, manage approved changes in the schedule. 
  • Prepare/review recovery plans on the deviations to achieve latest approved baseline. 
  • Review the schedule portions of contractor’s extra work claims and prepare details for discussion and/or inclusion in any response. 
  • Provide Visual management reports, KPI’s and Assist PMs to produce management reports, monthly status reports including invoicing assistance. 
  • Develop and update Planning Dashboards & S-curve weekly/monthly. 
  • Develop Tender and shutdown schedule. 
  • Ensure that all plans and schedules are prepared and executed in accordance with the Company’s planning standards.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications will be advantage. 
  • Professional registration will be beneficial. 
  • Relevant experience in Engineering and Construction projects that mainly focus on multi-discipline projects. 
  • Familiar with Petrochemical plant requirements and standards. 
  • Minimum 3-10 years relevant experience in planning/scheduling related to above. 
  • Expert knowledge of and competence in the use of Primavera and MS Project is compulsory. 
  • Planning and experience in multi-discipline projects will be beneficial. 
  • Contract experience in a consulting and construction contractor environment (NEC3 PSC/ECC familiarity is a must). 
  • Good knowledge of project management principles.
