  • Join us as a Senior Commercial Manager where you will be responsible for the commercial finance team as a financial partner advising the Site Leadership Team to drive sustainable business performance through the integration of operational processes with financial acumen.
  • As a Commercial Manager you will play an integral part in the decision making for the Mototolo Mine Complex through fulfilling some of the below key activities.

Planning & Budgeting

  • Provide management with valuable analysis of Operations performance, ensuring key risks and issues and opportunities are highlighted to senior stakeholders on a timely basis.
  • Drive site financial performance as per OMS and budget, track delivery against plan using effective cost control mechanisms, and challenge outcomes, ensuring budget holders do not exceed allocated spend
  • Cascade site financial targets down to work areas on site, for consideration and approval by GM, incorporating BU and Group provided benchmarks and proposing appropriate level of stretch
  • Manage risk management process on site, consolidating the risk/opportunity register across disciplines as well as review and analyse discipline service strategies to ensure cost/capital is appropriately considered in risk mitigation

Risk Management

  • Manage risk management process on site, consolidating the risk/opportunity register across disciplines
  • Review and analyse discipline service strategies to ensure cost/capital is appropriately considered in risk mitigation
  • Drive accountability on site by supporting both financial and operational risk audits on site and follow up audit outcomes
  • Monitor key controls for priority risks, and provide visibility to GM

Reporting & Controls

  • Act as first point of contact for business information, cost accounting and ad-hoc reporting for SLT, BU, Group, and external auditors
  • Drive site financial performance as per OMS and budget, track delivery against plan using effective cost control mechanisms, and challenge outcomes, ensuring budget holders do not exceed allocated spend
  • Manage and ensure adherence to site capital expenditure plans, monitor execution of activities and Capex spend, and control utilisation of any contingencies
  • Proactively provide site financial data insights to site leadership to inform operational decision making

Commercial Continuous Improvement

  • Continuously identify and assess improvement opportunities within Commercial
  • Leverage Commercial Manager Community of Practice to share and identify best practices to be applied on site
  • Provide feedback on Finance system requirements developed at BU and Group level and support implementation of standard tools

Site Performance Improvement

  • Identify key value drivers and operational cost drivers across the value chain, to facilitate value-based steering of operational decisions
  • Support working capital management and optimisation initiatives (e.g., stockpile transparency) in close cooperation with planning roles

On-site Integration

  • Guide formulation and management of site-specific, non-standardised contracts with value below minimum threshold
  • This role is in the Finance Department at a Band 5 level and reports to the General Manager

Qualifications:

You will need the following:

  • Postgraduate/Tertiary qualifications within Business Accounting, Finance, Economics

Experience:

  • Detailed understanding of the Platinum value chain and operational trends and risks.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant operational mining, processing, and engineering related experience
  • An understanding of the operational aspects associated with mining and mineral processing operations
  • Demonstrated understanding of risk management within a technical environment
  • Knowledge and experience with risk assessment techniques such as WRAC, Bow-tie Analysis, HAZOP/HAZAN and other industry recognised techniques and tools.
  • Track record of interfacing with and influencing colleagues and coordinating disciplines relevant to risk management

  • Valid Driver’s License
