Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Relevant Blasting Certificate
- Drivers’ licence with no restrictions
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a trackless mining environment, with one year at a supervisory level
- Proficiency in using control room software and systems for monitoring operations, including SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, telemetry, and process control systems
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

- Demonstrated proficiency in problem-solving and the ability to make informed decisions swiftly
- Advanced practical mining experience at supervisory level with sound appreciation for the full mining operational value chain, including equipment, and processes
- Ability to remotely troubleshoot and manage issues related to mining machinery and systems
- Understanding of industry regulations, compliance requirements, and environmental considerations
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the culture of Zero Harm by participating in and contributing to operational safety campaigns, applying relevant legislative, operational and safe work standards and regulations and, instituting and monitoring appropriate remedial actions as required
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, environmental, regulatory and related standards, regulations, and instructions, relevant Codes of Practice and the escalation process where deviations and non-compliance are observed
- Co-ordinate shift hand over by checking log sheets, physical Mining activities and communicate to relevant responsible persons
- Respond to alarms and emergencies and alert assigned/rostered management and response teams (e.g. Proto, ER24) during incidents, following all emergency protocols
- Responsible for supervising the control room operators and ensuring continuous monitoring of underground systems such as seismic and fire detection, SCADA, blasting systems, etc.
- Liaise with the Production Manager and Mining Overseer to track production progress
- Monitor real time system information and communicate operational information and changes to relevant stakeholders to minimise delays in Mining and Engineering Services
- Assess breakdowns, prioritise work with engineering team, and escalate unresolved issues according to an established escalation protocol
- Create and/or approve SAP work orders, manage stock reservations, and communicate resource needs to artisans and engineering teams
- Ensure all system data feeds into reporting tools for tracking, compliance and production reports and analysis
