As the Tender Lead for SolarAfrica, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the efficient administration of bids, bid reviews, and associated bid documentation. You will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and collaborate with various stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure successful tender outcomes from start to finish. The Tender Lead will maintain relationships with multiple consulting firms and look for new opportunities associated with tender. You will look for more innovative ways to increase the success rate in the target segments in line with the pre-defined sales strategy.  

 

Position in the Organisation:

  • In this role, you will directly report to the National Sales Manager. 

Principal responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic approach to bid management for Solar PV projects, BESS & Wheeling ensuring timely submission of high-quality bid documents.
  • Implement and oversee processes for professional formatting, collation, and bid and proposal documentation presentation, maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Manage the tender team, including conducting monthly and quarterly meetings and reviews.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, finance, and legal, to gather relevant information for tender submissions.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify opportunities, staying informed about industry trends, competitors, and potential clients.
  • Lead the development of comprehensive proposals, ensuring alignment with the Solar PV sector’s client requirements and project specifications.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, suppliers and subcontractors to enhance the organisation’s network and collaboration potential.
  • Collaborate with legal and contract management teams to review and negotiate terms and conditions in tender contracts, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to tender submissions, identifying and mitigating potential project risks.
  • Ensure all tender documentation complies with industry regulations, standards, and client requirements.
  • Work closely with finance teams to develop accurate budget estimates and ensure financial competitiveness in tender submissions.
  • Create a tender’s process and procedure flow document while constantly managing & improving as required.
  • Lead initiatives for process improvement in the tender management cycle, incorporating lessons learned from previous projects.
  • Any other job duties associated with this role.

PERSON DESCRIPTION

Experience:

Specific attributes:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience within a similar role.
  • Proficiency in ERP/CRM software and other relevant tools.
  • Advanced expertise in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Reliability and trustworthiness in handling sensitive information.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • Must be mobile within SA borders.
  • Technical knowledge & experience in PV & BESS industry.
  • Well versed in NERSA & municipal regulations

Desirable attributes:

  • Previous experience being successful in similar bids within the industry (minimum 3years)
  • Team management experience
