What you’ll have done before

Baseline:

  • NQF Level 7 (bachelor’s degree in management/Transport Operations/Supply Chain/Logistics or relevant)
  • 8 years’ experience in fuel/petro-Chemical and/or transport industry specializing in transportation and distribution of bulk fuels.
  • Detailed knowledge of HSEQ and transport regulatory requirements with specific reference to dangerous goods transportation
  • Experience in transport operations/fleet management, operations/distribution business processes and SAP
  • Experience in customer order fulfillment/marketing principles
  • Experience in project management (initiate and implement).
  • Experience in managing employees in a unionized environment.

  • Safety concerns: Ensuring transport safety is complied to as per RTSOG and that HSEQ principles are applied in Land Transport with mitigations and interventions applied for own and contracted fleet.
  • Compliance with regulations: Ensure that transport operations operations comply with all relevant laws and regulations with adherence to safety and environmental standards.
  • Managing logistics: Managing the ad hoc movements of fuel storage facilities customers. Being proactive in business continuity plans ensuring planning and coordination ensure that fuel is delivered on time and in the right quantities.
  • Cost management: Manage costs effectively to ensure that operations remain profitable.

What you will be doing

  • Forecast Management and Budget Management control for own fleet and contracted fleet.
  • Manage and Maintain Service Level Agreement with internal customers and with contracted fleet.
  • Consult with Outbound scheduling to meet product delivery windows, order placement requirements and minimum load requirements to ensure optimal and cost-effective use of own- and third-party fleet.
  • Enable and implement Transport Operations systems to promote efficiency, safety, and cost reduction (ICAM)
  • Current contract benchmarked against historical costs and against industry standard.
