Role Overview:

As part of our Agricultural Crop Production Training programmes, we are deeply engaged in the advancement of vegetable and fruit farming practices across our operations in Diepsloot (Green Acres facility). Our mission is to nurture and sustain the environment while producing high-quality, nutritious produce. We are in search of a Farm Manager who embodies our values of innovation, sustainability, and education in agriculture. This role is central to overseeing the diverse crop operations and to the training and development of the next generation of agricultural professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Crop Production Oversight: Lead all aspects of vegetable and fruit production, from planning and cultivation to pest management, harvesting, and post-harvest handling.
  • Operational Management: Streamline farming processes and procedures to ensure efficiency, sustainability, and the highest quality of produce. Oversee and Manage the maintenance of farm infrastructure and equipment (Planting shed oversight)
  • Workforce Leadership: Direct and mentor a team of up to 30 individuals (and 2 full time supervisors), emphasising the professional development of newly employed youths through practical agricultural training and exposure. Strong and firm employee management attributes are essential to this Role. 
  • Sustainability and Innovation: Advocate for and implement eco-friendly farming practices, aiming to reduce environmental impact while enhancing crop yield and quality through innovative agricultural techniques (includes livestock elements)

Desired Background & Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree / Diploma or significant experience in agriculture, biology, or a related discipline, with a focus on crop science.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience in agricultural operations, preferably in the context of vegetable and fruit farming.
  • Firm personnel and Staff management attributes and experience.
  • Deep understanding of modern agricultural practices, including precision farming, integrated pest
  • management, and efficient water use strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, train, and manage a diverse team.
  • Commitment to the principles of sustainable agriculture and the capacity to work under physically
  • demanding conditions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
  • An understanding of the NQF and facilitation of Occupational Agri Qualifications would be an
  • advantage.
  • Ability to travel to and from the facilities in Gauteng.
