We’re on the lookout for an experienced NSSC Superintendent to oversee the manufacturing of high-quality pulp in a safe and efficient manner in order to ensure Tugela Mill’s business strategy is achieved.

As an NSSC Superintendent, you will be responsible to:

  • Set performance objectives related to quality, cost, delivery, safety and people that are aligned with the key performance indicators of Tugela Mill strategy.
  • Ensure compliance to Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) rules and regulations.
  • Ensure safe working environment by identifying and mitigating all risks.
  • Drive (5S) implementation and tracking.
  • Manage pulp production to ensure targets are met and ensure appropriate actions are carried out when deviations occur.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams to ensure plant is well maintained through work schedules, planned and incidental shut work.
  • Ensure effective utilisation of resources (raw materials, energy, people etc.)
  • Manage fixed and variable costs within the approved budget.
  • Ensure continuous improvement plans are set in place and executed effectively to achieve business and cost improvement goals.
  • Identify and justify capital improvement plans in line with mill strategy.
  • Ensure effective performance management, training and development of team members through personal development plans.
  • Liaise with internal and external costumers to develop and modify products to meet the requirements and take corrective action when product does not meet specification.

What are we looking for?

  • BSc degree/ BTech /S4 / T4 qualification and/ recognition of prior learning
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a pulp / paper manufacturing process.
  • 3 years’ experience in a management/supervisory position
  • Computer Literacy
  • SAP experience will be advantageous
