Minimum Requirements: 

  • Grade 12 with Accounting 
  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience of which at least 1 year must be in a supervisory post 
  • Valid Code B Driver’s License 
  • Computer literate in MS Office package, Outlook, Internet.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines 
  • Good communication skills in at least two of the three official Western Cape languages (Afrikaans, English, Xhosa)
  • Good interpersonal and Customer Service skills 
  • Work overtime when required; 
  • supervisory skills

Responsibilities/Duties: 

  • Implement Council’s indigent registration procedures 
  • Implement approved Indigent Policy 
  • Assist with collection of outstanding debt pertaining to indigent consumers including blocking and unblocking of pre-paid electricity supply 
  • Supervise subordinates performing socio-economic audits at homes of indigent consumers in the performance of their normal duties 
  • Attend and participate in after-hour public meetings and Indigent Drives/ Projects/Thusongs 
  • Pre-Approval of monthly Indigent applications 
  • Execute monthly reconciliations applicable on the section 
  • Execute monthly statistics as applicable on the section 
  • Assist the Accountant of the section as necessary 
  • Administration and Resolving of Enquiries from customers/municipal departments 
  • Accurate amendments of records and accounts 
  • Filing of the section’s documentation 
  • General Administrative duties of the Section 
  • Effective communication and interaction with the public and municipal departments 
  • Assisting in Internal and External (Auditor General) audits.
