About the Data team

At Yoco, we invest in Data teams and tools, intentionally embedding them in everything we do. We’re data-driven, and we address questions that matter. For us, data is so much more than historical reporting, it determines what we’ll do next.

We’re growing fast, and so is the volume of data we collect — an ever-expanding scope for knowledge and creativity. Explore with us.

About the role

You’ll be a Analytics Engineer in the Analytics Engineering team, part of the broader Data team at Yoco.

As an Analytics Engineer, you’ll work cross-functionally with the teams across the organization to deeply understand requirements, design data models, and build up our well-documented semantic layer. Your focus will be on architecting robust data models, improving data transformation for comprehensive analysis, and building the foundation that enables advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making across the company.

What you will be doing

  • Be a company-wide data representative and contribute to analytics best practices and processes.
  • Full stack analytics engineering development, building models to consume, transform, and expose data to stakeholders and production systems
  • Drive a culture of experimental design, testing agenda, and best practices
  • Contribute to the culture of Yoco’s data team by influencing processes, tools, and systems that will allow us to make better decisions in a scalable way
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams to develop product roadmaps and measure success
  • Work closely with data engineering teams to capture, move, store, and transform raw data into highly actionable insights, and partner with business teams to turn those insights into action
  • Promote data literacy in the company.

About you

  • Strong knowledge of SQL (preferably Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery) and how to write efficient SQL queries
  • Familiarity with BI tools (preferably Looker, Mode, Tableau or equivalent) and experience distributing data insights via reports and dashboards
  • Track record of shipping high-quality products and features at scale
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly improving, start-up environment that focuses on solving problems with iterative technical solutions

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with the modern data stack (Fivetran / Segment / BigQuery / dbt / Looker / Metabase or equivalents)
  • Strong perspective on analytics engineering development cycle (data modelling, version control, documentation + testing, best practices for codebase development)
  • Experience within the payments and financial technology space

The People We’re Looking For

We’re looking for people who want to grow. And as Yoco grows we hope they stay with us, long term.

Building things that make society more equal is a daunting task. And it’s not for everyone. We never stop pushing, we break things to rebuild, we challenge ourselves and teammates. We start over, we constantly evolve — and we do it fast. We know that it’s just the right kind of meaningful madness for our kind of visionary human.

So, who are you? You’re someone who resonates with our mission, but also our values, when it comes to how we work.

You’re a curious problem-solver with a passion for doing good. You’re bright and grounded, experimental and bold. You play open cards and get stuck in. You’re not afraid of change. You close the loop.

At Yoco, we love to laugh, cherish each other’s quirks, and be authentic.
