About the role

You will provide thought leadership across the Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering and Analytics team, ensuring alignment of priorities across the teams. You will further ensure that the work efforts of these teams are well aligned to the broader Business needs. You will work hand in hand with the VP of Data. The Senior Data Product Manager plays a pivotal role in leveraging data to drive informed decision-making to gain a competitive advantage by providing valuable insights to support the organisation’s success. You are responsible for managing and engaging with stakeholders across the business, as well as give technical input into the Data solution space.

What you will be doing

  • Develop and execute the organisation’s data strategy, in collaboration with the VP of Data, to align with business objectives
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success of data initiatives.
  • Set clear priorities for the Data teams
  • Collaborate with data engineers to design and maintain a scalable and efficient data infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with analytics engineers to ensure Yoco has a semantic layer that serves business needs
  • Drive data analysis efforts to extract actionable insights from data.
  • Drive the creation and adoption of a semantic data layer for Yoco
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to develop models, algorithms, and reports.
  • Manage data-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support data-driven initiatives.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data and analytics.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and innovation.
  • Work closely with business leaders and departments to understand their data needs and provide data-driven solutions.

About you

  • Typically, a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field such as computer science, data science, or business analytics.
  • Extensive experience in data analysis, data management, and data strategy.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools, data visualisation tools, and statistical analysis.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading teams, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to set a clear vision and strategy for the data and analytics function.
  • In-depth understanding of data governance principles and compliance with data privacy regulations.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks, allocate resources, and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with data storage and processing technologies, database systems, and data warehousing.
  • A deep understanding of the organisation’s industry, market, and business objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex data-related challenges.
  • Ability to align data initiatives with the broader strategic goals of the organisation.
  • A commitment to staying updated with evolving analytics technologies and methodologies.
  • Ability to deal with complexity and ambiguity to deliver high quality data products.

  • Experience in credit risk data modelling
  • Experience in building data infrastructure and data models for credit products
