Required Skills and Competencies
- Excellent experience in communications and journalism to mobilise support and resources.
- Excellent writing, facilitation, and presentation skills to provide effective leadership to the Division, articulate and promote AUDA-NEPAD and African sectoral positions, and compose and defend requests for support or particular actions.
- Experience in leading and supervising a diverse team and the ability to leverage limited resources and staff for maximum impact.
- Experience in managing organizational resources and deployment in pursuit of innovative approaches and initiatives.
- Experience in working with social media and technology.
- Excellent computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SAP ERP) essential.
- Ability to always maintain confidentiality at the highest level.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and thoroughness.
- Excellent strategic visioning, planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation, and reporting skills.
- High level of integrity and accountability, flexible approaches to work coupled with enthusiasm, commitment, and energy.

- Proficiency in one of the AU working languages, and fluency in another AU language an added advantage.
Education and Experience:
- A Master’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations and any other related field with at least ten (10) years post-qualification experience in leading a communication function within the public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.
Or
- A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or any other related field with at least twelve (12) years post-qualification experience in leading a communication function within the public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally. At least five (5) years should be at management-level experience in leading and managing comparable within public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.
