Job Purpose:

Responsible for accounting and tax activities of Lucy Electric South Africa 
 
Key Accountabilities:

 Financial Recording

  •   Preparing the adjusting journals
  •   Preparing payroll journals
  •   Preparing balance sheet reconciliations (adjusting balances)
  •   Reviewing Journal entries (excluding adjusting journals)
  •   Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations (excluding adjusting balances)
  •   Reviewing freight and duty allocations 
  •   Complete month-end closure process within deadlines
  •   Reviewing reconciliation of debtors and creditors balance to statements
  •   Preparing bank reconciliations 
  •   Reviewing purchase orders to supplier invoices reconciliation
  •   Reviewing supplier payment reconciliation
  •   Responsibility for compliance with the finance policies and procedure manuals
  •   Auditing of perpetual inventory counts
  •   Support the internal and external audit process
  •   Physical inventory planning and verification
  •   Assisting Financial Controller in development of financial control systems and procedures

 Financial Reporting 

  •   Reporting financial results to Group Finance
  •   Fixed asset and headcount reporting
  •   Preparation and issue of monthly results and financial commentary
  •   Preparation of local annual statutory accounts
  •   Preparation of statutory returns
  •   Preparation of technical accounting papers 
  •   Preparation of monthly management reports
  •   Preparation of credit application analysis report for customers
  •   Reviewing reference checks on the new customer
  •   Preparing adhoc financial reports 

Financial Planning

  •   Assist in preparation of rolling profit forecast 3 times per year
  •   Preparation of cash forecasts
  •   Assist in preparation of annual budget and co-ordination of management plan
  •   Preparation of reports to that feed to quarterly profit, balance sheet and cash flow forecast 
  •   Performing variance analysis against budget (forecast) and prior year result

Tax

  •   Reviewing SARS tax returns from local tax specialist
  •   Responsibility for both direct and in-direct taxation
  •   Compliance with local tax regulations

Minimum Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  •   BCom Degree with completed articles 
  •   SAICA (AGA) registered
  •   Knowledge of IFRS for SME (essential)
  •   Knowledge of Companies Act (essential)
  •   Knowledge of Taxation Act (essential)
  •   Knowledge of BBBEE Act (desirable)
  •   Microsoft D365 experience
