We’re excited to invite potential candidates for the Safety Health and Environmental Manager position with our esteemed client’s team in Durban, specialising in manufacturing. With a minimum of 8 years’ experience in SHE manufacturing and at least 5 years in senior management, you’re the perfect fit for this role.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Senior Certificate.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in SHE in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 5 years’ experience at a senior management level.
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management or Environmental Management.
  • Valid Driver’s License (Code 08).
  • Advantageous: Additional certifications in HIRA, NOSA, SAMTRAC, ISO 14001, and/or OHSAS 18001.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Occupational Safety Management:

  • Develop and maintain a safety management system.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with safety regulations.
  • Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safe work practices.
  • Manage training records.
  • Chair the Safety Committee.

Environmental Management:

  • Formulate and implement an environmental management system.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare permit applications and reports.
  • Manage environmental impact and mitigation efforts.
  • Provide guidance on effective practices.

Disaster Planning:

  • Lead the Emergency Response Team.
  • Promote emergency preparedness.
  • Develop and implement disaster plans.
  • Test and monitor disaster plans.

Excellence in Compliance:

  • Implement and enhance SHE policies.
  • Conduct hazard identification and maintain records.
  • Propose improvement recommendations.
  • Conduct internal audits.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation.

Audit and Risk Management:

  • Identify and evaluate potential losses.
  • Develop plans to prevent or mitigate losses.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents.
  • Manage corrective actions.

Project Management:

  • Manage projects as required.

Employee Development:

  • Engage with employees.
  • Provide training and development.
  • Address non-compliant behavior.
